Juniors

This is the page for Wessex Orienteering Club Juniors. The club is committed to increasing access for juniors to take part in orienteering and Head Coach Jason Falconer is constantly involved in providing regular orienteering training at schools across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch.

Some of our WSX Juniors have been a member of the South West Junior Orienteering Squad, taking part in regional championships in Yorkshire and Northern Ireland.

Our juniors have also been selected for the junior England team, with fixtures against Scotland, Wales and Ireland in the Home Internationals, and against Belgium, France and Netherlands in the Interland Cup.

They have also taken part in summer training camps in Scotland, are part of the Great Britain Talent Squad South and representing GB at the European Youth Orienteering Championships in Hungary

How to get involved?

In 2023, WSX Orienteers are starting a Junior League. This will involve three local events during the months from April through to September, taking place in Bournemouth and Poole.

Turn up, it will be free for juniors, and learn how to orienteer. The results from the three events will be used to produce a league table, with the top 3 of each event, and top 3 overall receiving medals. All juniors taking part will receive a free compass.

The events are:

League event 1: Saturday 13th May at Broadstone

League event 2: Saturday 8th July at Upton Country Park

League event 3: Saturday 9th September at King’s Park, Bournemouth

Why not join Wessex Orienteers?

It only costs juniors £5 to join, and this gives access to many more events, a chance to meet other juniors, and many discounts on sports equipment.
