Chairman’s Chat – 18th September 2017

Club News

Last Friday we had a very sociable AGM/Quiz Night at Queens Park, albeit rather overwhelmed initially by all the Bournemouth FC fans who were having a pre-match pint and burger before heading off for the match (which Bournemouth won – at last!!)

The Minutes of the meeting will shortly be published on the website, on the Members page.

The quiz, provided as usual by Ian, was a closely fought contest – well, apart from the runaway Hedges team, that is! A well-deserved victory.

Yesterday, Ian, Kay and myself ventured up in the gloom to Swindon for the urban event in Haydon Wick area of the town. There were a couple of quite complex areas which needed to be dealt with – and I didn’t manage to deal with either of them at all well! I consequently came 6th out of 14. Ian did brilliantly, though, coming a close 2nd in the Mens UltraVets, out of 24. Kay had a confidence-boosting successful completion of her course coming 11th.

At the SOC event at Hasley Hill there were a couple of top ten results:

Paul Morrisey 5th on Light Green and Jason Falconer 9th on Blue.

Don’t forget to enter SOC’s November Classic before the end of this month to get the cheapest entry fee – it’s our Club Championship event.

This will be my last Chairman’s Chat for over a month as I’m off on a ‘Grand Tour’ of Italy. Hopefully, someone else will put some Posts on the website regarding the Wessex Night League event on October 9th (details to appear on website shortly) and the Dorset Delight on the 15th. Hope all goes well!

Ci vediamo!
