Well, there’s been a flurry of activity over the last weekend, including the final two Night League events and the Sarum Saunter.

First of all, Colin Hicks of SOC organised an excellent score event in Lyndhurst on Saturday evening. There was an added twist to the rules, in that there were 4 bonus controls but these would only count if they were visited after the other 20 controls. Only one person managed to achieve this – our very own Dale and so he won the event. But we had 4 other members in the top 10 places: Jason in 2nd, Frida 3rd, Tim 6th and Rob 9th. A very competitive and enjoyable evening.

On Sunday, Sarum held the Level B Sarum Saunter at Fonthill. Due to the recent heavy rain, it was very muddy out in the woods, particularly along the footpaths near the start. And it was pretty tough going throughout the whole area – but fun, all the same. We had quite a few top 10 places:

On Monday, Eric Whapples organised the final Night League event for us at Broadstone. This was a straightforward, no-fuss score event – no odds and evens, no bonus points, no varied points  – just 20 points for each control you visited. Simple!! Again, Wessex had good representation in the top 10 places:

Dale 2nd; James 3rd; Jason 4th; Roger 5th and Alan 6th.

WELL DONE TO ALL THOSE MENTIONED ABOVE.

As you all know by now, our next big event is the Compass Sport Trophy, the details of which James has already circulated. This is always an enjoyable and very sociable day – and you never know, we may win!!
