Club News

Hello everyone – I hope you had a lovely Christmas and are now looking forward to an orienteering-packed 2017! As you will see below, the New Year kicks off with two great events – so no excuses!

As usual, the Boxing Day Canter was a wonderful event – blessed by mild, sunny weather, and there was a record turnout  – 300! WIM did us proud by providing mulled wine and mice pies at the end, too. Perfick.

The Bonus controls of Father Christmas, the Angels and a Christmas Tree made all the difference as to one’s final score. This year, I bagged only one of them (although later found out that I’d probably run right past Father Christmas near my first control!) Hey ho!

Anyway, the best WSX scorers were:

James 9th   Roger 15th  Jolyon 17th  Ian 35th

Special mention must be made of Kath Dean (sorry Kath!) for ending up with the miraculous points total of -340! Unfortunately, she had a bit of a problem and managed to take over 90 minutes, hence losing all her hard-earned score by getting -610 penalty points!! But I’m sure she was still as cheerful as always at the end! Well done Kath.
