Organiser's Comments.
I hope you all had
a good time. Luckily it was fine day and the spring weather made the
woods look very inviting - I was sorry not to be competing myself! Thanks
must go to Julie Astin the planner, and Peter Brett of WIM, the Controller,
who both did a splendid job. Thank you also to the members of WSX who
helped in any way and made the event go smoothly. Chris and Mike Tween
of WIM deserve a special mention for rushing back home to get WIM's
generator when ours broke down - thank you both! Finally, thanks must
go to Mr. Tory, the owner of the parking field (especially for helping
to free the lorry which got stuck when delivering the toilets!); the
collection in aid of the local church raised a total of £144.17
which has been passed on to him.

Planner's Comments
Shillingstone presents
some tricky planning problems, due to the block of fields in the middle
and the very steep slopes, plus a large number of paths and forest roads.
The addition of recent thinning operations also obliterated some lovely
point features which I would have loved to use. The longer courses,
in particular, were therefore more a test of stamina and running ability
than technical orienteering skills. I know some thought that I'd left
a zero off the end of the stated Climb! But I hope that most competitors
still found the courses challenging and enjoyable.

Peter for Controlling the event for me, and to the great assistance
given to me by Charlie, Roger, Geoff, John, Liz and Rob in either putting
out, and/or collecting in, controls.
