Planner's Comments
It was difficult
to enjoy planning on Rempstone as the forest has been so badly savaged
in recent times leaving heavily brashed open areas, a lot of water about
and the ever present giant furrows. Hence I kept the longer courses
generally shorter than usual and used some smiley faces on the most
junior courses.
The weather helped
greatly and even the very muddy failed to complain. Course times were
sensible and no one got completely lost. My thanks to my Controller,
John Shucksmith, for keeping me on line, and also to my valiant box
'putters out' and control recovery team - you done well!

Organiser's Comments
The organising of
this event went very smoothly with the details being published on the
BO website, Wessex OC's website and with the trusty flyers at as many
events as possible.
There was some last
minute reallocation of team leaders and swapping around of teams, but
with such a good turn out from Wessex club helpers on the day, we were
set up and fully manned without any hitches.
Many thanks to Tom
and Julie Wilkinson who provided the Catering Facilities. If any other
club would like to use them, I have their contact details.
With an 'EOD only'
event, knowing how many maps and entry forms to print is guesswork.
The marvellous weather gave us a good attendance from you all, and listening
to the various comments I think you'll agree it was an almost perfect
day!
No injuries to talk
of, and only one red head-sweatband handed in as lost property.

Comments
Rempstone is a rather
physical area but the comments I heard were complimentary about Richard
Arman's courses. The brown and blue got into the more interesting area
to the north but unfortunately the location of the start dictated by
the junior courses meant that the green did not. I thought that the
brown course should have been longer but expect that most were happy
with 7.2 km given the underfoot conditions. The area had actually dried
considerably over the last few weeks and the weather on the day was
the icing on the cake. The organisation ran smoothly and the campsite
venue made an excellent event centre.
