The
day started in thick mist which added a certain something to the navigation.
The mist slowly rose through the morning ending with a pleasant sunny
day at midday. I planned courses
around and outside the park which were navigationally simple and a bit
lacking in route choice due to the constraints of the many lakes. The
area does, however, offer a pleasant training run and an opportunity
for newcomers to try out the sport. We managed to give out three leaflets
to interested passers-by who did not have time to try out a course.
The Evening Echo article raised one person who turned up and another
who phoned but never arrived.
Thanks
are due to Bill Brown who produced a set of bagged pre-printed maps
for this event, a great luxury and my wife Wendy who helped me run the
event.
