Brownsea
Island Informal - 6th February 2010
Once again
the weather was kind to Wessex Orienteering Club and we were blessed
with a bright sunny day. Despite the logistics of getting to the
island and a limit on the numbers, 33 orienteers turned up for
the afternoon event with 6 staying on for the night event when
a further 17 orienteers arrived on the later boat.
There is a
good system of paths on the island and the undergrowth is constantly
being managed which changed the designation of some areas of fight
to slow run. As the terrain is not that technically difficult
I introduced some complicated rules for the score events, which
some orienteers chose to ignore for the afternoon event and so
ran as a normal score event. Therefore there are two sets of score
results for the afternoon event.
